Fifty years ago this month, four lads from Liverpool, England signed a contract with EMI Records and the world of music changed forever. At the time, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison had Pete Best as their drummer. In August 1962, Best was fired and replaced by Richard Starkey aka: Ringo Starr. They went back into the studio and on September 4,  recorded their first single “Love Me Do”.  That was the start of amazing things to come ….

In April 1964, The Beatles held the top five chart positions in Billboard Magazine with: #1) Can’t Buy Me Love, #2) Twist and Shout, #3) She Loves You, #4) I Want To Hold Your Hand and #5) Please Please Me. That feat has never been repeated in the chart’s 52-year history and in my opinion never will be. The foursome are the best selling act in history with over 600-million albums sold worldwide. They had a remarkable 20 number one singles (also a record) and one of the all-time best selling albums with “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”.

Even today, The Beatle legacy marches on. In Las Vegas, NV the “Cirque du Soleil Love Show” has staged more than 2,700 shows to nearly 5-million fans since it opened in 2006. Paul and Ringo are also still touring and going strong!

Great harmonies, amazing lyrics and the best music ever written will keep The Beatles going strong for many years to come. My granddaughters (ages 6 and 13) love playing “Guitar Hero” on the Wi and they know all The Beatles’ songs! Not bad for a bunch of guys from Liverpool touching three generations of people with their music! Long Live The Music Of The Beatles !!!!
