Gibson Guitar Corporation agreed to pay a $300,000 fine to resolve a federal criminal investigation. The company is charged with importing wood from Madasgacar and India. Both of those countries have strong anti-logging and deforestation laws. No wonder the music sounds so good when its played on a Gibson!
The “Southern Poverty Law Center” came out with a survey that lists 1,018 “hate groups” in the USA last year. California leads with 84 registered groups, followed by Georgia (65), Florida (55), Texas (45) and New York (37). Why can’t we all just get along???
Elton John blasted Madonna last week on an Australian television show. The “Rocket Man” said, “She’s such a nightmare. Her career’s over and she looks like a fairground stripper”. Elton is upset with Madge because she disrespected Lady Gaga who is the godmother of Elton’s 19-month old son.
Forbes Magazine named Princeton University as the top college in the USA. The pick was based on five general categories: post graduate success, student satisfaction, debt, four-year graduation rate and competitive awards. The University of Florida was the top rated Florida school finishing 80th in the poll.
Last but not least, The University of Georgia did a study that shows the common household kitty cat is a killing machine. The study placed a small video camera on 60 cat’s collars. The cats were let outside in the morning and the footage was downloaded every evening. Each cat’s activities were recorded for 7-10 days and each kitty spent an average of 4-6 hours outside everyday. The results were astounding as cats attacked and slayed: spiders, lizards, snakes, frogs, chipmunks, worms and birds. The “American Bird Conservatory” says that cats are the reason why one in three American bird species are in decline …. nice kitty, kitty, kitty!
